THE GALICK'S
Dear Mr. Trout:
Thank you for your phone call. We are all please that you thought so much of Tina and want to write about her. I would like to apologize for taking so long to write. I just did not know where to start so I've decided to just tell you a little about Tina.
Tina had such big dreams and I think for a long time she thought that they would never come true. She dreamed of going to college or someday being a big musician. Tina loved to do so many things writing, playing guitar and especially spending time with her family. Although she had no formal education, Tina was bright and was interested in learning about all sorts of things. She did a lot of reading in her free time, and lately had been studying English and grammar books. She had even thought about taking some courses at the local Jr. college.
Tina knew more about music than anyone I've ever known. She read Rolling Stone faithfully. Tina was the funniest person that I know. She could make us laugh for hours.
After she moved here to Alabama she started sending away for information about taking a correspondence course in broadcasting. When you called her she was so excited. She tired not to show it but I could tell. Once she decided to go for the apprentice-mentor training she was so happy. She really liked going to the radio station. The first time she was on the air we were so proud of her, and she was proud of herself. We would listen and record it so she could hear it when she got home. She would play it over and over and if she messed up she would say, "Did you hear that?" and laugh.
I know she was very happy. I think that she realized she could do whatever she wanted and that this was just the beginning. I know that if she were still alive that she would have been a big star someday. We all used to tease her about when she became a star would she remember all of us little people in her life. She would just laugh and say "Sure I will". One thing is for sure we will never forget her, and what a wonderful friend, sister, daughter, student, person she was. Everyone who had the pleasure of knowing her has had nothing but nice things to say.
I hope that this letter will be of some help to you in your article. If I can help you anymore please call me at work, Tues. & Thurs. are best. Thanks again for calling and writing the article about Tina.
Sincerely,
Karen Galick
